Despite a considerably slower pace due to the shortage of semiconductors, sales of the PS5 are doing well. The console has finally passed a new level.
It was only a matter of time, now it’s over. As of March 31, 2022, the PS5 reached 19.2 million. A month later, the new generation console has just reached a new symbolic milestone.

And 20 million for the PS5. In the space of a month, Sony has managed to sell 700,000 more consoles despite the shortage of semiconductors which has a strong impact on sales. A symbolic level that the last born of the Japanese manufacturer reached in 18 months and 22 days against 15 months and 14 days for the PS4. A small tour de force given the supply problems, Sony failing to meet demand. The company is pleased to have managed to pass this symbolic milestone so quickly despite the situation:

An increase in the production of the PlayStation 5
However, the pace of sales has been declining in recent months due to the shortage. Intel and consorts are formal: the situation should not improve anytime soon. Sony also expects this to continue in the coming months to the point of being forced to revise its forecasts downwards. The Japanese firm is not giving up, however, and promises to significantly accelerate the production of the PS5 this year.
