the PS5 and Xbox Series version holds its release window

Game News

After being delayed twice, The Witcher 3’s next-gen free update has a release window. This version is coming in a few months on PS5 and Xbox Series.

This time it’s the right one for the new-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. CD Projekt Red looks confident enough and has therefore shared a new release window.

The Witcher 3 on PS5 and Xbox Series at the end of the year

Originally, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S version of TW3: Wild Hunt was supposed to arrive in 2021 with a free update, then in the second quarter of 2022. The Witcher 3 will finally be available in the fourth quarter on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. A small ad that fell for the seventh anniversary of the game.

No exact release date yet, but the fourth quarter runs from October to December. This patch to embellish this cult title has not been detailed either. The only information we have today is that the development has been done internally for some time. Originally, Saber Interactive (World War Z) had started the work but the studio presumably ran into problems. “We have decided to entrust the remaining work on the next-gen version to our internal development team” said CD Projekt Red.

What future for the franchise?

After the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series version of The Witcher 3, CD Projekt Red will be able to turn entirely to the next episode. It will still be an open world, which will be “amazing” thanks to the Unreal Engine 5. The future of the franchise of Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of the Witcher books, will also go through the Netflix series with the broadcast of season 3.
