Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is unveiled with a trailer and a release date. A best-of episode?

Rumors have been swirling about it for quite a while now, but it was during the Nintendo Direct that took place last night (February 9, 2022) that Nintendo made Xenoblade Chronicles 3 official. Nintendo’s latest video announcement, the game from Monolith Soft will therefore land in September 2022 on Switch, with a pitch that should delight fans. Indeed, after the stories about Mekonis from the first opus, and the famous blades from the second opus (Mythra and Pyra), this third episode will tell us about the common future of the worlds of Xenoblade Chronicles 1 & 2.

Mekon: a beautiful leg?

Known for its incredibly well-crafted worlds, the series will take us this time to Aionios, a new playground that will mix elements from the first two titles. The trailer of just over 2 minutes allows us to see new creatures with dimensions that are still as generous as ever. Of course, there are still many questions, especially around the combat system that will be adopted. Indeed, each episode is radically different on this point, and for the moment, we do not know what direction will be adopted. It remains to be seen if the existing systems will be reused, or if the Monolith Software teams still have surprises in store for us.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3: the best-of game?

One thing is certain: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be affordable by all players, whether they are franchise veterans or newcomers as explained by Tetsuya Takahashi, executive director of the franchise. Regarding the chara-design, we find Masatsugo Saito (Xenoblade 2) while the soundtrack will be signed by composers like Yasunori Mitsuda, Manami Kiyota and even the music group ACE. We remind you that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be released in September on Nintendo Switch, and that the dates are likely to vary depending on the health situation. Anyway, we can’t wait to get our hands on this title!
