Surprise ! A new Lord of the Rings game is announced. The second surprise (and not the least) is that it is a mobile game. Don’t hide your joy, let’s see.
The Lord of the Rings is not in its best form in video games with the cancellation of the MMORPG by Amazon. As a consolation prize, a mobile game that is published by EA is announced. The title is developed by Capital Games, studio which is notably behind Star Wars: The Heroes of the Galaxy.
The Lord of the Rings in your pocket
We don’t know much about the game yet, but Malachi Boyle, vice president of Mobile RPG at Electronic Arts says:
It is our great pleasure to partner with The Saul Zaentz Company and Middle-Earth Enterprises to create a next-generation mobile role-playing game.
Our team is made up of fans of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit, who put their passion and talent at the service of an authentic experience for all players every day. The association of an artistic direction faithful to the work and stylized animations participates in the total immersion of the players in the fantastic universe of Middle-earth, where they will be confronted with their favorite characters.
According to the release, The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth should feature extensive storytelling, turn-based combat, a rich collection system, and a large cast of characters from Tolkien’s expansive universe. Obviously it remains a statement on paper.
The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth will enter regional beta testing this summer. No more information about him is known at this time. But the Star Wars game of the same order had been well received by the press and the public. It remains to be seen if the same will be true for this one.
