For the release of Uncharted in cinemas, PlayStation Productions unveils its own credits. An animation that is largely inspired by the MCU but with major Sony licenses.

Released this Wednesday, February 16, 2022 in theaters, the Uncharted film launches the PlayStation Productions adaptations. An opportunity to watch for the first time, on the big screen, the introductory animation that will be used for each film or series project.

PlayStation: an introduction to bring them all together

In 2020, just before the arrival of big exclusives like Ghost of Tsushima or The Last of Us: Part II, Sony Interactive Entertainment inaugurated its new PlayStation Studios label with an intro in line with Marvel and DC films. A credits available on each first-party exclusive, or second-party like Death Stranding.

And it is based on this model that was born PlayStation Productions Animation, the division that manages adaptations of games into films or TV series. The intro brings together stars from different worlds with Nathan Drake (Uncharted), Kratos and Atreus (God of War), aloy (Horizon Forbidden West), Ratchet & Clank, Ellie and Joel (The Last of Us), Jin Sakai (Ghost of Tsushima), sackboy (LittleBigPlanet) and Astro Bot.

A teaser of future adaptations?

As can be seen, there are more characters in the video than confirmed projects so far. In addition to the Uncharted film, which has finally been released in theaters after years of being cursed, it will be the turn of the series The Last of Us to be broadcast on HBO Max in 2022 or 2023. It is ultimately the most advanced adaptation .

Will follow, on even more vague dates, the film Ghost of Tsushima under the control of the director of John Wick and the television show Twisted Metal, which should meanwhile be accompanied by a new PS5 game. We don’t have a crystal ball to predict the future, but PlayStation Productions could tap into the heroes seen in the intro. Cory Barlog, creator of God of War (2018), would see a series on the most pissed off bald guy on the planet. And with Sackboy Astro and Rachet & Clank, there’s plenty to drain a younger audience and get into Disney Pixar turf.
