Back 4 Blood, from the creators of Left 4 Dead, hits the major milestone of 10 million players. At the same time, the studio details and dates the first expansion “Tunnels of Terror”.
It’s still not Left 4 Dead 3 but Back 4 Blood has been able to ride the wave. A few months after its release, Turtle Rock Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive draw up a positive balance sheet and roll out its 2022 roadmap in the short term.
10 million survivors
It’s a fact, Back 4 Blood brought in a large group of players, lovers of fresh flesh, as soon as it was released. A large attendance from the outset which can be explained by the presence of the game in the Xbox Game Pass. And failing to have L4D3, the title has established itself as a viable alternative with fans and newcomers.
All that to say that the software has widened its circle and now has over 10 million players. According to NPD Group, which reports video game sales on the American market, the success is such that Back 4 Blood is the best-selling new license on consoles in 2021, in the USA.

Back 4 Blood prepares its expansion “Tunnels of Terror”
The rest of the game’s story will be written on April 12, 2022 with the release of the first extension (of the three planned), “Tunnels of Terror”. This paid DLC – available in the Ultimate and Deluxe editions or via the Annual Pass – will enrich the software with: two new cleaners (Sharice and Heng), eight skins exclusive, more than 15 new maps and a plethora of elements for customize weapons and equipment.
But to prolong the pleasure, the extension provides a new PvE activity “Infested Hives” in which it will be necessary comb through seven armored dungeons of labyrinthine tunnels in the depths of Evansburgh. These places are inhabited by another type of threat, the distorted Infested, also playable in Swarm PvP mode. There are three kinds:
- The Wanderers who throw anti-personnel mines
- The Shredders
- The Ripper whose particularity is to inflict heavy damage
